Many thanks to the Wingecarribee Shire Council for helping us to send out a newsletter to all residents of Wingello.

The contents of the newsletter is as follows:

Wingello Progress Association Inc. Update

Dear Wingello resident,

With this newly-formed Association about to mark one year of operation, a report outlining
achievements is provided for your information prior to the Annual General and regular General
meetings to be held in the Wingello hall on 26th May, commencing at 2.00pm.

Members of the beautification sub-committee met on Sunday to examine the response to the questionaire for member preferences for tree planting in one section of Railway pde.

The results revealed the following.

 17 members from a posssible 47 chose to indicate preferences.

The preferences were as follows:

Snow-Gum   4

Pyrus            3

Acer             10

Some members expressed sentiments that Blue-berry ash would be a preferred option to those listed.

Thank you to all those members who took time to respond, this is only the first Stage of the plan, and there is scope down the track

Rome was not built in a day, but…the trees in Wingello may appear this year. With your help!

As the sub committee of the Progress Association, given the task of addressing the Wingello streetscape, we have been carefully planning and prioritising projects that we believe will enhance the appearance of the Village of Wingello and give us all an improved sense of identity as a community.

What has happened so far ?
· We have met with Wingecarribee Shire Council officers on a number of occasions with our ideas for the beautification of Wingello and found them to be most co-operative.

Barry Shine has been communicating with the council and local government and the management committee met with Charmaine Cooper (Community Engagement Co-ordinator for the Wingecarribee Council). I am pleased to announce that Wingello village had been identified along with  the Balmoral village  as possible  participants in a council initiative aimed at supporting   obvious growing community cohesiveness .

An initial working title of the project is   “Our Village our Future” and has been successfully implemented in small Victorian towns.

1980s Trivia Night

Wingello Progress Association Inc hosted it's first Trivia Night on Saturday 24th March 2012 at the Wingello Village Hall. The night was a resounding success raising $453.40 towards the association.

Highlights of the night included music from the 1980s, questions were based on the 1980s- music, film and television, politics, sports and a wild card category.

Lucky door prize: $100 gift voucher for David Jones

Winners of the night: each team member was able to select and take home a prize from a large selection of items including a backpack donated by Ridgeline.
